BBQ Teriyaki Salmon

Servings : 4 to 5

Equipment needed : Barbeque

1 Large salmon fillet (we used Atlantic Salmon), skin on

2 Cups soy sauce

3/4 Cup brown sugar

2 Tbsp minced garlic

1 Tbsp minced ginger

Juice of 3 fresh oranges

Use 2 cups of the marinade

2 tsp cornstarch

  1. Line a baking sheet with a large piece of  foil and place your salmon fillet on top.  Take the edges of the foil and lift up to make boat-like sides.
  2. To make the marinade, use a large bowl and mix together the soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger and orange juice with a whisk.
  3. Pour about 1 cup of  the marinade over the salmon with the boat-like foil sides, so that the marinade does not come out.  Then close up the foil a bit, so long as the marinade can coat the salmon.
  4. Place the baking sheet with the salmon in the fridge for a couple of hours.
  5. To make the glaze, pour remaining 2 cups of the marinade in a small saucepan on the stove, add 2 teaspoons of cornstarch and slowly whisk.  Heat the stove plate to medium until simmering.  Whisk constantly until the glaze thickens, remove from the heat.
  6. Heat the barbeque, then remove the salmon from the fridge after marinating. Carefully lift the sides of the foil and place it onto the hot bbq, check each couple of minutes as it cooks, it should take about 10-15 minutes to be fully cooked.
  7. When the salmon is ready, remove from the bbq and spread the glaze of the top.
  8. Serve with your favorite vegetables.

Here's the video on how to do it!
